Emily worked on the branding, signage, and advertising materials for a local laundromat.
Emily designed this custom logo for Hatboro Laundry. Inspired by the Italian heritage of the business owner who immigrated from Italy and opened the laundromat in 1975, the designer played with the font pairings seen in vintage Italian prints and signage. The typography of these vintage signs, which often were displayed in front of local shops, utilized combinations of narrow sans-serif fonts with handwritten fonts. Emily drew a custom typeface for this logo based on that reference material.
The designer loved the bright colors present in the interior of the laundromat and used them as a base for the color palette. The colors reflect the bright and playful palette of Italian architecture and design. Brand fonts which reflected the typography of the logo were chosen for the copy of signs and other materials.
The designer ensured that both English and Spanish translations were used throughout the signage to accommodate the local demographic. She also created visual aids for machines which had complicated and confusing payment mechanisms. Brand fonts and colors were used throughout signage.
Emily designed this advertising postcard and prepared the files for print. She coordinated with a local print shop to establish a mailing list and oversaw that all flyers were mailed by the
given deadline.
Emily designed and published a website for the laundromat to improve the business’s professional image and online presence. She also created a centralized contact email address and created an online help-form for easy and efficient communication with customers.
To improve the comfortability of the laundromat, Emily hung a series of graphic prints showing landscapes in different Italian cities. This both strengthened the presence of the brand in the space and added some visual interest to a large blank wall. She also prepped the logo file for print as a decal and applied it to the main door.
